Lippert Travel Lock Leaking when full wall slide is extended

Hi, we have a 2015 Fleetwood Discovery 40E with a full wall slide on the drivers side. The FW slide incorporates Lippert Travel Locks on both ends, that deploys a secure locking metal arm against the inside wall when retracted for travel. I had a wind storm take the cover plate off one of the locks when the slide was out, and then it began to leak rain water in the storm. I later called Fleetwood to describe the issue and they sold me a replacement cover plate, which they said to simply reattach with four screws and all would be good. Well, on a recent vacation we pulled in the big slide with some A/C condensation on the slide topper, slowly to allow draining, and once the travel lock was under the "stream" of draining water, the water diverted into the Travel Lock and began to leak inside the slide overhead. Has anyone had this issue, and what would be the fix? Thx, Jeff

Thanks for the pix Mile_High, unfortunately mine do not have the drain holes like yours. Bad design on Fleetwoods part I guess. I am going to resolve the slide topper size issue and seal gap, and then hoping all will be a little better.

Sounds good! Sorry for the troubles.

  • Something doesn't sound right. What if you didn't even have slide toppers?

My slide locks have drains that can get plugged up with debris. Winnie says to use pipe cleaners to check them every once in a while and I do. They drain through small discharge points on the side of the slide. Is it possible you have those and they aren't hooked up right?

Of course when you said Camping World - all of your trouble seemed to make sense.......

Here is the drain on one of mine, up near the slide topper just forward of the slide lock

  • Followup on this issue, I contacted several other Discovery owners and Fleetwood Tech Support, it turns out my slide topper that was installed by Camping World in May is 2-3 inches to short on both ends, plus the seal they repaired still has a gap allowing water into the coach. I have an appointment for later this month to make it right under their service warranty.
