looking for comparison

I am thinking of a class A MH and have been looking at sparton and freightliner chassis. who can give me a honest comparison but you guys. I know some are driving the spartan and some the freight liners. don't hold back on me now, just give me the likes and dislikes of the chassis you are driving, what do you have for an engine, your likes and dislikes, I have looked at all the hype on You tube etc but now I want the real world info. I don't care about the coach other than the chassis right now. I'll get around to the interior and exteriors later. thanks guys
  • I wasn't trying to open a ford/chevy debate just trying to see which of the two different chassis I wanted to get with our new MH. I have read about some of the problems with spartan and so I started to look at the freightliner chassis. one problem I came across was spartans steering box and the dangers it could cause. I don't know if anyone has had this problem on the freightliner or not. more than likely they both have the same steering box. I guess I will have to drive both chassis and make
    up my own mind.
  • I own a 2015 Fleetwood with a Freightliner ISL9 380HP and have had no chassis issues. They have a great bundle of warranties and user support. They also provide free towing assistance during the 1st 3 years of ownership.
  • We've owned both, both have served us well. This is a Ford/Chevy debate.

Back in the day Spartans typically had IFS (independent front suspension) and Freightliner typically had a straight beam front end.

    Today they both offer each.

Freightliner does have a much larger nationwide service network, although Spartan has been good reimbursing us for any warranty work done at a non Spartan service center.

As far as the engine, bigger is better, and torque is the number that is more important in the diesel world. HP sells stuff, torque is what gets the job done.
