Looking for Perfect Class C or B+ for Me

Class C (or anything that meets criteria)
Not huge (say, max 30')
One occupant
Walk around bed (can be a twin or a double)
Dinette (don't care for couches or recliners)
Large shower
Long Term Occupancy
True 5000 lb or greater tow capable
Some boondocking capability (fresh water tank, generator, etc.)

The only floor-plan (and it's near perfect) I've found that really meets my criteria (except shower is smaller than I like) is the Jayco Melbourne Prestige 24KP or LP. Problems with this RV:
- Holy **** expensive!!!
- Only 3800lb tow capable
- Only 500lb cargo capacity (me, a dog, a trailer tongue, a dozen eggs and there's no capacity for a toothbrush and a loaf of bread!)

I'm retiring and would like to have an RV I can afford to live in full time or at least extended periods. I want to tow a trailer or small vehicle.

I'm sure I'm not asking a lot of questions that I should be so I'm open to just about any idea or recommendation.

Im not a complete noob as I just sold the first RV I owned, a Fuzion 301 bumper pull toyhauler. Great rig for what it is but we just didn't get along on the highway; and the layout: shower too small, having to crawl up into a bed to sleep or make it up, and what the heck good is a double recliner you had to sit sideways in to watch TV????????

TIA

There might be hundreds of answers, but here's our suggestion.

Coachmen Freelander 27QB. Simple (no slides and not much complexity). Functional (everything a person or couple needs). Supportable (Chevy or Ford chassis).

    Again, just our opinion.

and a good opinion it is :W

do everything you can to limit 'rv down time' when you are trying enjoy much deserved retired time .
Most of the optional gadgets that are factory installed are 'quality questionable'. :B
  • Buying a Sprinter chassis MH might not be the expensive part of the equation.
Sprinters might need to go to Sprinter specific shops and the pickings might be limited and many hundreds of miles apart.
When you do your research ask independent people not the sales people or dealerships selling them.

Do Sprinters need specific software to make repairs and service ?
IF so, how many repair shops across America have the needed Sprinter specific software, if you have a repair need while on the road ?
I would ask to see the list of shops and make sure it up to date with the listed shops still in business. You might find that list smaller than it reads.
  • Sorry I hadn't updated my profile. Let's see if it's better now.
  • Opinions are just what I'm looking for. Experienced input will help me make a better decision. :-) Thanks!
