Looking to Purchase First Class A, NADA price confusion
Hi all,
I'm new to shopping for RVs but I have purchased my fair share of cars and trucks. Whilst car/truck shopping I've always been able to talk the dealership down to fair market value sometimes even below (referencing either Kelly Blue Book, or Edmunds). In addition to that the dealerships may be 3 - 4 grand above the fair market value.
The thing that is boggling my mind when it comes to RVs, is that it seems like some places are literally asking almost 20k over NADA Average retail value. Now I know average value means just that - average condition throughout - it even says on their website a fair price may be a few grand more for a good condition RV. But 20 grand over and hardly any dealers seem to want to come down. Maybe I need to go back to negotiating school but has anyone else experienced this? Should I look at private party, aka Craigslist?
