Loud clicking from rear wheels at low speed

Own a class C E450 ford frame with the dual 16" wheels in the rear. pulled into campground and the "clicking" sound was very pronouncd at the low speed. At first thought it was a stone in tire but haven,t found any as yet. The sound appears to be consistant with one revolution of the tire.

Any suggestions or advise is appeciated.

It's probably one of your wheel covers making the sound you're hearing.
  • I heard that sound in my car. A screw was in the tire.
  • X2 on listening to pin it down on one wheel, or possibly something else. Ought to be possible to check for a stick or stone in a dual wheel without jacking. Crawl under and look, drive ahead 2 feet and look again, several times. I once had an odd sound each turn on a wheel that turned out to be a bent axel. A screw the in a car tire definitely made a click.
  • Sometimes wheel liners/hubcaps will do that as they flex when the wheels turn. I had one like that. After a while I just ignored it.

Might have someone walk alongside as you drive slowly and listen for where the noise is most pronounced. Noise sometimes travels from where it originates at. Might even be in the brakes or driveshaft. JMO

As in something WRAPPED AROUND the driveshaft....

  • Look under there and see if there is a branch or something stuck in there. Jack up one side at a time and roll the wheel slowly and listen. x2 on check the lugs
