I installed a Sani-Con on my Ambassador so I could dump at home to a clean out. Worked great for the three years after that we had the coach. My Scepter came with one and it's worked great for the last 7 years, but I do have a replacement impeller in my tool box. The factory installation is buried in the utility bay, so I'm not looking forward to the day I need to service it.

I use a flo-jet portable when I need it.

ONE warning: IF not used often the pump will size up and blow the 20 amp fuse in the switch pendent.

The main motor shaft extends out the bottom of the pump and is slotted

use a coin (quarter) or flat tool (Screwdriver) to turn the shaft one turn in the direction suggested by the outlet before you hook up after storage.

Very good Don...right on the money except for the hose. Even with the SaniCon, you still have to pull out the hose and connect it to the sewer opening....and then disconnect and fold the hose back into the wet bay compartment. Granted, it's a much small hose and easier to do, but you still have to do it.

And I can guarantee you that if you have teenage girls (I had three) taking showers in your rv, you're gonna be cleaning that macerator much more often. Long hair and the blades in the Sani Con just don't get along well.

SaniCon is a nice all in one system that comes with all the parts you need. If you open the SaniCon plastic housing, it contains a Flojet pump. It's actually easier to mount and gives you more mounting options with the plastic case removed.

We've had a SaniCon unit for over 10 years and it works great. They WILL clog if you run baby wipes or sanitary products through the system.

As part of my maintenance, I replace the impeller/gasket and clean the cutting blades about every four years. It only takes about 30 minutes to service.

Many, who have never owned a macerator, will tell you that they're slower and don't clean the tank because they're is no whoosh like when you open a 3" stinky slinky. It's a great sounding theory, but no true. The tank drains the same. The SaniCon does take longer to drain, but there is no hose to pull out of storage, clean, and then store again when done.

The SaniCon also allows you to dump without the use of fresh water for flushing. Simply drain the black tank, open the grey and let the two tanks equalize (about a minute) and then drain the black tank again. Do this twice and your black tank has been flushed with nice soapy water.

When we had teens and they would have friends over, I would always "indoctrinate" them to the workings of an RV toilet and told them if they plugged it up, they would unplug it. Never had a problem.

By the way Jim, I think you were referring to the steel blades where you found baby wipes and other cotton products....not the impeller Right?.

Our Sani Con was on our previous coach (Safari) and when we sold it, I kept the Sani Con to use at home as my septic tank clean out is about 100' feet from where I parked the motor home.

Our new coach has the std stinky slinky, and I actually find it a lot more convenient to use.

Funny, I have never had a Robin Williams moment UNTIL I started dumping with a macerator pump. We have a motorhome and a toy hauler. The kids pretty much take over the toy hauler when we are out in the desert. Now that the boys are teenagers, there are also teenage girls that come to visit. They hang out and watch movies and play cards and use the toilet! Not sure if their parents have never taught them proper RV toilet etiquette. Since you have already pulled the handle on the 3" black line, it is a sh*tty situation to say the least when the macerator pumps stops working!

I still use it as it is the only way for me to dump at home. However, I will take a 3" dump hose any day of the week!
