Magnetic switch for step issue

Question

There is a two piece magnetic switch at the bottom corner of my entry door. One piece on the door frame and the magnet on the door. So far, I have kicked this magnet twice and broke it. It sticks out too far and I am just thinking there just has to be a better way. Has anyone had this problem and what fixes might be possible..Thanks!

I have NEVER kicked mine.Suggestion, Put a bracket over it, Take one of those flat "Mending bars" from your local lumber/haredware store. Bend it to fit over the magnet and securely bolt it to the door above and below the magnet. Alternative A wooden trim piece, cut out for the magnet.

Stay closer to the door hinge when going in and out?

Move it to  the hinge side. That's where Winnie put mine.
