MaxxAir cover on a van?

I have the Maxxair cover on my Fantastic Fan in the galley area of my PW Plateau TS just like Escargot. I leave the vent open and never worry about water coming in. Most B vans I have seen do NOT have one!

I ordered one via Amazon.com. I will decide if I want the dealership or me will install. Thanks for the tip.

I have installed one on our PW Lexor.

To do so, I simply separated the two parts of an extension ladder (I think I used a "16 foot" ladder, so each section was 8 feet long), carefully padded the ends that would rest against the side of the vehicle (socks, more socks, a plastic bag to keep them in place, then wrapped the bag with tape), then leaned one against the side of the rig - one on each side.

That way, I never had to "get on the roof", rather I simply climbed the ladder, leaned over - it was an easy reach, and moved from one side to the other as I needed.

DW did stand on the bottom rung of the ladder for me to ensure it wouldn't slip.

Hi Folks,

I have a MaxxAir cover on my Roadterk 190V. It came with it, and I like it. I can leave the fan cover open and the fan on in a rain storm. I think it draws out the air better when driving. It does take away any sealth qualities, but who needs sealth at Walmarts.

I have a Sportsmobile with a Fantastic fan and, tired of having to keep it shut in the rain, had a MAxxAir cover added. It looks good and I can keep the vent open when driving, also a plus. The air volume of this fan even on low is terrific, so, no problem with airflow.

The only problem I have is that if I don't use the van much in summertime, mildew forms inside of it. I've solved this problem by using truck washes and giving them special instructions to wash out the inside well. That's gotten rid of the mold but like everything else, has to be maintained. I do recommend them.

My new trailer has a MaxxAir with the integrated cover. It tilts up when you open it. It's a very cool fan and quiet too. It has a much lower profile than a standard vent with an added cover - I'd say it's at least 3 to 4" lower (when closed).

I see no reason this couldn't be fitted to a B, as the opening is the same size as the fantastik fan. It would be a major project to tear out and put a new one in I suppose. But if you are having a new van built, I see no reason not to spec one out.

Yes, it is true. I haven't seen any B Sprinters with Maxxair covers. We have one over our Fantastic fan and it is great. Got it installed locally by RV dealer. I like it here when it rains, which is often.
