McDonald Observatory Western Texas

Wondering about the road to McDonald Observatory. Is SR 118 RV friendly? Will be coming from I-10 and don't know if we should come in on SR 17 leaving the motorhome in Ft. Davis or just come in on SR 118 off I-10. Is the road itself mountainous or flat desert?

    You are in for a treat when you go! X2, google it and see how the roads work. It's the best way.

    Probably can zoom down on it with google earth and see the road - then select street view
