Well, there's "normal fuel" and there's Low Sulfur Diesel fuel fuel which Sprinter requires...not all "normal fuel" is Low Sulfur Diesel fuel
True, Ultra LSD 2 has been the standard sold in the US since I've had a Sprinter.
Like KD4UPL, I've found this topic to be very interesting because biodiesel is not all that common in my part of the world. Have to start checking out the pumps on our long trips, and maybe step up the fuel filter changes.
It sure seems like if states like Minnesota mandate 20, Mercedes is going to have to address this in their warranties.
