2007 on up V6 takes a special MB 229.51 spec 5w-40 oil, 13.5 qts. Mobil 1 & Valvoline are the most prevalent brands. Anywhere from $6.00 to $10.50 per qt. depending on where bought. The new 2014 4cyl tales 9 qts of the same oil.10k mile oil changes up till 2014, then they raised it to 15k. Oil filters are about $8.50 to $11.00, again depending on where bought and what brand.Fuel filters are 20k miles and if newer than 2012 1/2 chassis, they are over $100.00 on the V6. Up to 2012 and the new 4cyl the fuel filters are around $35.00.Oil changes at dealers are priced all over the place. Others will chime in on that as I do all my own changes.Transmission oil & filter changes are 40 to 60k, 40k recommended if it's an RV. They are around $400.00 again depending on where it's done. I was quoted $425.00 about 8 months ago.DEF fluid is anywhere between $2.90 and $12.00 per gallon. Truck stops at the pump are the lowest. Dealers are ridiculously high. You get about 2k miles per gallon on that.Hope this helps....

mines a 2007 but has the MB 5cyc engine ,cost a $118. at the dealer for a oil filter change. I,ve had class A, B, c, rv,s and like this one the best.

depends on which engine you are looking at; more than one has been offered. Is it one of the gassers or one of the diesels?

No gassers in North America. Only for a short period during the 2008 model year.midnightsadie, yours is a 2007 model year RV on a 2006 Dodge/MB chassis.

Here's the ONE Source for 2007 oil specs from Mercedes. No other should be used, no matter what others say. LOW ASH 229.51 NEEDS TO BE USED.

NAPA carries Liqui-Molly 5w40 229.51 ...... USUALLY on the shelf. Also Hengist & Mann filters.

I think you really should go with whatever is spec'd in your owners manual. Personally I wouldn't trade between grades as we did 60 years ago. Oils are much better now.

Is that synthetic and, is 5w40 better for stressful hill climbing and hot weather?

I have the 5 cyl engine. It's a 2007 Roadtrek on a 2006 Freightliner chassis. Shell Rotella T 15-40w is a recommended oil for this engine. The 2007 and on 6 cyl. uses a different spec like you said. If you have the 5 cyl engine the Rotella T oil is ok to use.

Am I correct that everybody is using Synthetic oil for oil changes. Other question: When I go South from moderate temps here, which is better for high temperatures and lots of hilly climbing: 5w30 or 5w40 synthetic? Thanks.

Ours too. 2006 Pleasureway Plateau TS(with I-5) and 2007 interior build with corian,leather etc. We love ours and camp for a week or two on trips.

Just so we don't confuse the OP too much, most of the oils on the list are not available in North America. Kinda hit & miss what you can find here at reasonable prices.
Also, you can use 5w-30 in the 229.51 spec engines, but again it's very hard to find it vs the 5w-40.
Stick with Valvoline, Mobil 1 or Fuchs, and you'll be good to go
