OK am I the only one that thinks the ARM LONG list of "other problems" other than the turbo is more of CONFIRMATION the Spriter is Junk.
Kendall69, I'm mystified by your real opinion about Sprinters after comparing the following post (and others you've made) a few months ago, to the ones in this thread :h

I'm nearing 100K on my 2007 Sprinter and only problem was a injector went out covered under warranty. Changed out the shocks and the ride is better than most cars. So once to the dealer in 8 years 100K miles - I can live with that.
Some guys on the Sprinter site are getting upwards of 800K miles on their Sprinters.
I agree service can be scarce in some out of the way places. In every small town you have a Ford/Chevy dealer, but not Mercedes.
I will say this it's been to the dealer less than the Fords and GMC's I've owned."
Our experience after 3 and 1/2 years and more than 30,000 miles has been excellent, similar to AsheGuy's. To the original poster - thanks for bringing up the biodiesel topic. I've learned more on the subject as a result, which often happens by reading this forum.
A lot changed since this post. I am getting Engine codes like crazy. I never had the need to research Engine codes till mine flared up. I have a 2 fault codes. That started my quest and research. After several conversation with two dealers no one can pin point even what the code means. One dealer could not even find the code. One dealer service manager said it's the MAF filter, and it would be $850.00 to replace it. Proof I'm getting old but in my time, $850.00 got you a new rebuilt engine, and even today you can get close to a rebuilt AMERICAN engine for that. I bought the part rather than drive 200 miles round trip, rent a car etc. to the dealer. I replaced the part, and still have the codes and NO POWER on my Sprinter. I've had conversation that it could be as simple as replacing the part ( WHICH I DID ) to as much as $4-$5,000.00 to fix it. So here I sit with a Sprinter down for three weeks, with not enough power to go to the dealer, and the tow bill 100 miles is going to kill me.
So once the reality of what does go wrong with the Sprinter and how expensive and complicated they are to repair, I - as they say WOKE UP.
That then led me further on a quest, as I was researching my problem to the thousands of people that have similar problems. New info, new attitude towards Sprinters. I saw how widely known the problem I was having was and wide spread throughout the Sprinter line.
I had no need to research problems as mine was running fine, but as they say "it happened to me" so I got a taste of the misery of the price of repairs and the incompetence of MB service personnel. How is it that MB/Dodge wrote the program, yet can't define what the fault code is?
Trust me when I say this, had I know what I know today I would not walk I would RUN from the Sprinter.
So, ya, you betcha I changed my tune, now I'm screaming from the roof tops so others can be aware. Hey, everyone can make their own decision, but do more research than " gee these Sprinters get great fuel mileage"
Then when the part about not idling your engine came up, I thought what RV buyer on the planet would buy a Sprinter that you can't idle?
So rather than fix the no idle problem, they add a fast idle switch so you can sit in a quite camp area with a diesel engine at high rpms. GREAT SOLUTION there MB.
So even if the MB has been to the dealer less, I will be spending more at the MB dealership for this problem, than all the GM and Ford dealers combined.
Sorta like having the best spouce in the world - till they have an affair, or the greatest son ever, till he goes on a killing spree - A lot can happen in a short period of time to change your beliefs and attitudes on things. Anything that is thought, said, written, proclaimed on one day, can be changed by a series of events, and that's what happened to me.
