You should try actually looking a little closer at those silly google results you reference.
After page 14 or 140 results there are no more, and out of those 140 only a handful are actually complaining of a problem. Please look for yourself. There probably is not more than a couple dozen actual problems\complaints. Certainly no where near 245000.
BTW Google also shows 2,560,000 mostly meaningless results for ford van EGR problems
