No Easy task to shape the wall profile.
I used the measurement method - Measuring different heights and joining up the line.
There is no reliance on being level as it's not. But even so somehow had to have a straight line to start measure from. So I put a pole at the starting point of the wall.
Here the ceiling has been started as well. Couldn't finish it until the panels where fitted because I used the Metal beams as support for the walls. - Cu2ExplorerSo now what next. Why I started here I'II never know.
I made the shower base with a wooden frame attached it to the floor and covered it with Fibreglass and resin surfboard making method.
Mistake 2. Mixed white paint in with resin after seeing it done on a video.
Well it curdled! So I had to spend 1/2 a day sanding most of it back. How discussing. Then Dad gets really angry cause of all the dust and me not wearing a mask. - Cu2ExplorerLets see if cant make the pics smaller.
I used an industrial Linolium - it was due to the fact that I wad want it to be more durable. It was thick and very difficult to cut. It is hard to keep clean, no different to using normal Linolium. One big mistake after listening to others was "Don't glue the whole lot just the edges!" Was the advice. Well food van it has to be secure and run up the walls. So I glued a lot of it but left just the middle - which ended up being a huge mistake. When it gets hot that stuff expands so bubbles up where it's NOT glued. Man thanks a lot. - Cu2Explorer

Yes I did do a good job on the Transit. But The sprinter is a real challange, I don't find it good at all. Quite disconcerting really. - NCWriterExplorerYour previous conversion job was beautiful. Welcome to the forum and keep posting!

Good for you. I took a serious look at the extended version last year, measured the interior dimensions and really liked the possibilities but decided on keeping my old van as long as it keeps running so well. Good luck and keep posting your progress. Not sure how you will fit it all in. Live in, yes. Food van, yes. Both??? hmmm
Oooops, missed your other pics at first. Looks good!
Yep I would keep your old one too so long as its still running well. Cause it all cost so ooo much time and money. For me it was a case of have to do it now. My ford was in very good shape and it sold within a week. But it didn't have the towing capacity or the room for a food van so I had to do this before I got too old and ran out of capital. The Sprinter cost me $44.000 Aussie dollars alone, terrible prices in Australia.
Thanks pal, believe me I need the luck. I am just working in this thread as we speak and like you not sure how it will all fit all I can say is not made for two.
Afraid very afraid. - Cu2ExplorerStep 1. Floor
Needs a clean.
That's my 87 year old dad. He was a very good help. Holding tape measure and on stand by for advise for many things along this journey.
There was already a ply covering on the floor. But as I was looking at a 6.5 Honda geni coming in I had to make the floor continue to the door without a step. (space) Hence taking it over the step.
Although the side door can be opened - It will not be useable for entry or exiting once finished.
Step 2. Wiring and Step 3. Insulation.
12V above.
Wiring below along the wall, 240V I used a 4mm cable dam thick an difficult to work with. Ended up having to often add more which I missed along the way.
Placing wooden lats using self tapping screws into metal make it easier to attach ceiling to. Opps that last lat wasn't centered - so add another.
Insulation. Looked into coolroom high densitiy foam - which gave a rating of only 2 at 50cm deep plus very expensive. This aluminum sheeting gives a rating of 1.7 double it and it rates at 2.6 and is very easy to install and a nice price to.
But that Sprinter gets so hot very hot quickly. But it's all coming from the windshield! So have ordered an external WS cover, imported from USA. - Cu2ExplorerSo with this good experience can I cope with a Sprinter conversion? That was the Big question.
So as previously I start to look for someone to do plumbing and electric but nobody wants to do it!
Oh dear guess what I will have to do it all myself. - BillMFlExplorerGood for you. Oooops, missed your other pics at first. Looks good! - Cu2ExplorerThis was a previous camper I built in 2004. Wasn't that difficult, everything went smoothly to plan. The shower I remember being the hardest part to build.
But I paid $5000 for Pop Top, plumbing HWS and gas to be fitted by a professional.
