I knew a 72 year old man that was still driving tractor trailer up and down the eastern seaboard at the age of 72. And he did more work at that age than many men half his age! He drove several more years before it ended in a accident that was not his fault! My hats off to good old Mr. D. May he rest in peace!

Considering he drove all his life, his training was probably on the job. But on the job was every day, not once or twice every other month.

What makes you so sure he isn't right? You might read a bit of his web site, he isn't against RVs and trailers, his issue is with poor and unsafe setups. We've had an uncountable number of discussions on this forum about many RV owner's lack of concern and basic knowledge for safety. Personally I've seen far too many unsafe setups on the road over the years, and too many Class A and Class C drivers that clearly didn't understand the size of what they were driving.

Did you read the comment section, post #3. This person REALLY dislikes us RV drivers. There are links to almost every incident to traffic accidents, and people like him, and comments referring to the age of 72 as to old to drive that MONSTER RV.

That was 2.5 yrs ago in Jan 2011 . . . . very scary but driver minor injuries. Did not comment on his wife (presumed ok). This one crashed due to a TIRE BLOWOUT. No idea how old those tires were . . . .

I do believe the reporter's estimate of $50,000 in damages might be a little off, but they are right that it might not be salvageable.....
