Michelin XPS Rib tires installed

Got the new Michelins installed and took it for a test drive. What a difference from the Toyo Open Country HT tires that were on there before! All the swaying, wandering, wallowing and tracking in the ruts of the road are gone( well, almost all ). There is a more firm and harder ride and the road noise a tad louder but certainly not objectionable nor unexpected. The Toyos were so bad they were borderline dangerous and gave me second thoughts about continuing to drive this vehicle which is a class b. Cost of 4 tires, mounting and balancing was around $1100.

  • Good price. I think mine were $1600 4 years ago. America's Tire in Mtn. View.

  • My understanding is that the Michelin Rib tires are not that good in snow. Has anybody ever tried using chains on them?
  • How do these perform on dirt or mud or snow? The traction looks different from the M/S2
  • Our XPS Ribs are wonderful. No tire trouble in several years after installing them.
  • On my previous 5th wheel I replaced my "china bombs" with XPS Ribs and all my tire troubles went away. I could actually feel the difference in how my 5th wheel was riding up in the tow vehicle. Sadly, they don't make Ribs in the size my new trailer requires, but, so far I've been happy with the "made in the USA" Goodyear G614's.
  • Glad you are happy with them. I had the same experience switching from OEM Hankooks.
  • Cool - good to hear they're an improvement for you. We have Michelins on our camper, too.

Now just keep the dogs away from them ;)
