I don't disagree regular ovens are better, but the point is in a Class B if you don't have a combination of a microwave/convection oven you aren't going to have the ability to bake and roast unless you have one or settle for an even lesser separate standalone space taking oven of some sort because I can't think of a North American converter that puts in built in ovens in a Class B.
A convection/microwave takes up the same space as a microwave only and just gives you the option of choice. They do cost more than a microwave alone if that is a consideration. Some foods (most) are probably better baked than microwaved when you have a choice. They both make excellent bread drawers. :)
