Microwave venting inside MH

Vent it outside. Its not expensive or difficult to do.

I've had 3 travel trailers in the last 15 years and all had non-outside vented microwaves, just like in the house. None cause any damage or affect on the cabinets. I've had a dozen different microwaves in the house over the years. None vented outside, all sat on the kitchen counter, usually in a corner. None ever hurt the wood work, cabinets, or counter tops. I've never heard of grease escaping to the outside of a microwave.

Ours in our kitchen also vents inside. We had the choice of inside or
outside with this model. Placement and construction needed inside venting. It has been 17 years now, same microwave, no cabinet problems.

What are you cooking that grease would escape the microwave and get on the overhead cabinet ?

Jayco was nice enough to install an outside vent on our Greyhawk, yet they did not install a hood to vent it outside. I didn't notice the lack of a hood. I saw the vent outside and just assumed it vented outside. When I questioned the dealer about it after the purchase, they told us that was setup correctly. Perhaps the hood is an option. Our Hybrid TT had a hood that vented outside.

Never owned a microwave that vented outside.

If it's just a microwave, I see no reason to vent it outside, like most of the rest. I don't think most microwave ovens are set up to vent anywhere other than the general open air.

If it's a combination microwave and range hood, it would certainly be preferable to vent it outside due to the range hood functions. Recirculating the air inside from the range hood is decidedly inferior. The grease filters do trap some of the grease, but the moisture still accumulates. A stovetop tends to produce more moisture than microwaving, both because of how it's often used (boiling or simmering stuff) and because the combustion of the propane produces water vapor as one of its primary emissions, along with carbon dioxide.

If we're going to worry about stuff lets worry about important stuff, like "is the beer cold enough?"

After reading the other comments, are you asking a about the range hood (over the stove) being vented? Those range hoods come both way. Some can be vented outside, some are vented to just circulate inside. But they have that silver screen filter that's suppose to trap the grease and stuff, either way.

Our current camper has the non-outside vent. Our previous 2 camper had the outside vent for the range hood. Either one, no damage to the cabinets ever.

Microwave ovens,if not a stand alone, that include venting for the stove as well, are engineered to make cooking and reheating foods a fast process. An important component in its operation is the exhaust function, but heat, along with grease or other liquid particles sometimes blow through the exhaust vents with the air due to the steam created when cooking usually on the stove not so much on the microwave. Steam/heat has to go someplace when cooking. Usually when this happens, the grease can adhere to the vents and cabinets eventually cause the vents to clog. The heat escaping from the vent can cause discoloration of wood cabinets. It doesn't happen overnite but I've experienced it first hand and so have friends I know, but this is mainly inside a house not a TT of MH so perhaps its' the frequency of use but after reading all the replies I won't worry about it thanks or rather it will help my DW not....:-) Thxs all
