Miles per day.

How many miles do you normally drive per day and what is the most miles driven ? I normally try to do 400 t0 450 per day. A week ago today I did over 600 miles. Not by choice but due to circumstances, long story thanks to flooding in the Midwest. GPS had me on highway 2 in Kansas and all at once the road was closed at the Missouri River then the fun began.

  • Depending wit the direction I'm going and the city traffic direction, try to leave by 8 A.M. Drive until 4.Alot of times we do not make reservation at campground. This way not on a schedule.
  • When we were using the DP I could do 600 or so. Not so much now with the gasser. Gasser is harder to drive and not nearly as comfortable a ride.
When I was P/T with BMW, I would leave north of Atlanta and sleep in Pembroke Pines Florida. (Flatbed Ford) NO more however. Too old and back is shot

I like to think we are not RV Travelers but RV Campers. What we want to do when we are in travel mode is to arrive at an overnight location before dark usually in the 4PM to 5PM time frame. We want to get setup for the night stay in an unhurried frame of time... Eat a casual meal, check in with the kids, etc... Watch a little TV especially for the upcoming Weather for the next day of driving.

For us this usually means 300 to 350 miles driven hopefully less than a 8 hour drive period...

Most of our trips have been on the East side of the US which is probably more hectic than the long lonesome roadways out in the Western part of the US. Our trips seem to duplicate themselves it seems... Head for Myrtle Beach and come back via Gatlinburg TN haha... Done this so many times the same gas stations get used and some of the folks there remember us haha...

Sometimes we have been known to drive to the Arkansaw/Texas state line to enjoy a WHAT-A-BURGER meal haha...

  • Back when it was a 2 week vacation or a long weekend we could make it to the gulf coast in 2 days. Now sometimes it takes a week. Some times we just go to the office and get another night and don't go anywhere that day. Without reservations we aren't in any hurr.
  • I keep it to 6-7 hours per day, I generally leave by 9 and in cg with a cold one by 4:30 at the latest, retired so there is no rush. My longest drives were 850 miles in under 11 hours, won't do that any more.
  • We use the 330 rule; no more than 330 miles a day, and get to where you're going by 3:30pm...
