For the first few years we owned our Monaco Diplomat, I had constant battery acid issues (four Interstate six volt batteries). I bought the Miser caps and Thermoil and installed them. The battery acid issued was reduced by about 75%.
While camping with some friends in a Monaco, they opened their battery bay and it was bone dry and dusty, not a drop of acid. They told me their coach was always like this.
A year later I replaced all of my Interstates, as a preventative measure, and replaced them with the same model batteries. This time I called Magnum Inverters (my Inverter/ Charger manufacturer). They reviewed my charger settings and said I was overcharging the batteries. I switched the settings and never had an acid issue again. From that point on, my battery bay has been dry and dusty. I later added the ProFill water system, just to make life easier.
Not all coaches and the best quality chargers, but in the good that have quality systems, I think the Thermoil/Mineral Oil and the Miser caps are just a bandaid for another issue.
Don, did you have the ME-RC remote? If so, do you recall if the changes you made to your charge settings was in line with what is recommended in the manual?
