The military I was in has changed so much, I would not recognize it today. Back in the first part of the century they stopped inspecting the barracks, they have a cleaning service for all the janitorial, same for basic, no KP, no Laundry, no landscaping, it is all contracted out. I am not sure the boot camp of today would instil the same discipline we used to have. So much has changed.
Today is to remember those who have perished protecting their country, and those who have returned and due to the horrors of war could not deal with returning to a civilized world. No matter when they served, when taps is called, their duty is complete.
