Not a Winne, but we removed the mirror above our stove and replaced it with ceramic tile. Travel Supreme used a silicon type glue that bonded extremely well to the wall surface so the mirror pretty much came off in pieces. I found the best practice was to slide a wide blade putty knife between the mirror and wall and tap it in with a hammer. Once the blade was well under the surface, I pulled it outward and in most case the mirror broke in rather large pieces. We removed the pieces and moved along. I'm not sure what the mirror was made from because it wasn't normal glass, almost felt like a glass/plastic combo and obviously by my description....hard to describe.
I found it interesting that all this did no damage to the vinyl wall paper behind the mirror, but in order to get the tile mastic to stick we also removed the vinyl wall paper. This also was well bonded to the wall, but it did come off. If you have a similar setup, I would think you could use silicon to attached the stainless steel directly to the vinyl once the mirror is removed. Good luck.
