More power for my Ford E450 32 Foot Forest River Sunseeker

Recently bought a 2011 Forest River Sunseeker 32 foot Class C.
Climbing up to Lake Tahoe was a chore. Not pulling a car. Any ideas how to get more pulling power? (K&N air filter is a must) but also thinking about a chip or changing out exhaust?
My last Class C was an E350 on a 29 foot class C. It seemed to have more power vs my E450
Obviously my 32 footer is heavier but really disappointed in the lack of power climbing hills.
Any ideas?

  • Banks power system will give that V-10 more guts in the hills, have one on my 08 Bounder class A, can climb the hills while flat towing a Jeep just fine, my total weight is around 22,000 lbs..

    Ultimate RV Power System

Remove airflow restrictions with complete intake and exhaust system plus advanced programming for up to +56 hp and +70 lb-ft, 7% more MPG and optimum engine efficiency.

  • heard pros-cons abt K&N as far as MAF sensor in air intake abt the oil used on K&N filter. can mess up sensor cheaper to buy a paper 1 every 6 mo

Many other forms members swear by it.
It is on my short list.

It reprograms you computer for air/fuel mix, timing and also transmission shift points.

  • You probably just need to put your right foot down firmly. The V-10 is made to rev and lugging up the grades is the worst thing you can do to them. You should be able to climb any 6% grade at 55, it may take 4,400 rpm(max HP), but that is what they are designed to do. Yes your mileage will suffer but that is just what it costs.

  • man look, imho,u are barking up the wrong tree my friend.u -like me might forget that a mh on the road is like driving a brick down the road.so unless u got more green that u need, take care of what u got, and listen to the auto mech. imho. now its all happy-camping
  • 1) Banks PowerPack
    2) AFE intake (the K&N full intake looks close, but only replacing the filter element doesn't doesn't do much)
    3) 5-star programmer

If your old rig was on an E350, that means your new rig probably weighs at least 3,000 pounds more, so slower should be expected. I do think the stock 4.56 gears should serve you well enough, but there is more power left behind in the motor.
