more storage places
As usual, I'm always looking for more storage for all the junk I seem to need. One thing I run in to on all my vehicles is where to put my glasses, wallet and phone while I'm driving. Center console sometimes works, but it's usually stuffed with drinks, my wife's lipbalm, coins, other junk that seems to accumulate while on the road. I didn't really want to get a bigger center console unit because it makes it harder to get from the driver's seat to the back. What I did find was this overhead shelf unit http://www.vdpusa.com/truck/shelf-it.php
I got it from amazon for about $90 and it showed up the other day. I must say I'm pretty impressed. Solid steel tray with some kind of fuzzy coating to make it look like original. It was pretty easy to install once I figured out I was installing the brackets backwards. Once that was straightened out I went pretty quickly. Couple things I didn't like were the clips that hold the shades in place weren't pre drilled. Ford has some funky attachment where there is a screw holding it in place, then a big spike to make it move. it's also not flat on the base. Bit of grinding with a dremel and a drill bit for the holes and they're back in place. Installation requires no modification of the coach, they attach at the visor attach points then relocate the visors onto the bottom of the shelf. One thing I need to work on, is the sheet metal screws holding it together leave sharp points in the inside where you're running your hand. need to do something about that before I cut myself. I thought it might block some of my vision, maybe a little, but the part it blocks is the underside of the cabover so it's not an issue. I'll have to see how I like it while driving, but I think it should work fine. Depends on how organized you are and if you can follow directions correctly. takes about 30 min to install and only needs a screwdriver (electric screw gun works better) ((except for the drill for the visor clips))
