Motion sick while parked?

Hello, we're looking to buy a Roadtrek and went to see a 2003 190 Popular yesterday. While parked and exploring the rig, I became motion sick and it lasted hours after I got home. It really rocked a lot. Has anyone experienced this? Is there something wrong with this rig (shocks?) or are there jacks that can be used? We used to live in a 5th wheel and also traveled often in a truck camper, so RVs aren't new to me. Maybe I'll get used to the movement, but I'd hate to have to live on dramamine when we'd go out.....

  • Thank you all for your responses.....
I didn't eat any thing bad, nor did I have any ear infection or headache.
Nothing was on in the rig....it just rocked a LOT when we moved around. But there was that smell like formaldahyde, though it's 11 years old...that may also have affected me. All good thoughts!
I do agree that it must be what trop-a-cal said....
But I am glad to know that it's not normal in these size rigs, and that it's something that we can take care of.
Thanks again for all your help! If we get it, I'm sure we'll be asking more questions in the near future. :)

    Carbon monoxide?

Ooh, yeah. Were any appliances turned on during your visit? Maybe a call to the dealership to have it checked would be a good idea.
  • If you haven't gotten motion sickness in other vehicles or RVs, then I agree that it might not have been motion sickness. What were your symptoms? Dizziness could be many other things - even something as simple as slight dehydration. Stomach could be something you ate as drsolo mentioned, and so on.

How long were you in the van? If you were only in it for 1/2 hour or so, then I can't imagine you'd have motion sickness so bad it lasted for hours afterwards. Unless you have an inner ear infection, etc., that's throwing off your equilibrium.
  • You may inadvertently have linked two unrelated events. I might ascribe your urpy stomach to something you ate earilier rather than walking thru the RT. I might also ascribe the queasy to some possible smell in the RT. Did you experience any headache? Did you open the refrigerator and smell anything "off"? Once, before vacating an apartment I turned the frig off but left green peppers inside and when I went to clean the frig a couple days later I almost threw up from the gas given off by the peppers, altho I couldnt actually smell anything rotting.
