I use the Mobil 1 5W20 EP from Walmart in 5 quart jugs + 1 quart. The overall expense of the DIY oil change isn't bad given the relatively low mileage accumulation.
I've read numerous accounts of these V10 engines lasting very well with the Motorcraft oil.
Where the Mobil 1 EP may be a better choice is where you're anticipating a long trip which is somewhat beyond the 5K mile change interval. With the 6 quart pan, I'm not going to push extended oil changes. However on a long trip 7K miles or so I'd be tempted just to run without oil change on the EP synthetic.
