MPG on recent year 40 foot Phaeton?

We are looking at recent model Phaeton Motorhomes. If we purchase one we know that it will be a 40 foot model. I am wondering if any Phaeton owners could tell me how many MPG to expect from this vehicle. We currently have the motorhome which is in our signature and get 7 MPG with or without the toad.
Thanks

  • Wow! This makes me feel better. My 39 ft DP with the Mercedes MBE 926 at 330HP gets 9.5 to 10 towing my Jeep Wrangler. 10.5 to 11 without the Toad.

you should be able to average 7.5-8 keeping speeds at below 62MPH.
assuming your mostly freeway diving and towing

I would say a 40 ft. diesel motorhome weighing in at 35,000+ will get about 7.0-8.0. How big is the engine in the new Phaeton?

    MM.

That's exactly what our Phaeton gets pulling the Libby. There are times it gets 8 and there are times it gets 7, depending on the roads and grades. It's normally about 7.5-8 but does get a little lower if we are climbing mountains.

At Camp Freightliner we had a number of Tiffin owners, the instructor said to expect overall fuel mileage with a Cummins ISB (like my Tiffin Allegro RED) upto 10mpg.
With Tiffin Phaeton Cummins ISC power upto 9 mpg
others with Cummins ISL expect up to 8 mpg.

Remember as the HP increases so usually does the size & weight of MH.

Please, don't take this the wrong way...but, why would anyone who is buying a 40 motor home even think about anything to do with mileage?

We hit the road and don't give a rip about fuel mileage. It's so much more relaxing that way.

Our Subaru gets good mileage, but it's uncomfortable to sleep in and the kitchen and bathroom are cramped.

I just like to be well informed. If one makes a large purchase it is good to know all you can about it. Yes I understand about traveling and not worry about it as we just got back from a 4500 mile trip and are headed out for another trip. Enjoy your trip down the road being totally uninformed if it makes you feel better.

While I tend to agree in principle, still knowing what to expect is prudent for a variety of reasons including trip planning. I like to plan fuel stops in advance (to a reasonable degree)and knowing the operating range is very useful. The cost is what the cost is but sometimes you can plan to avoid fueling in some states where fuel is outrages.
