We almost went to the balloon festival this year, but DW in the hospital. We haven't been to that kind of an arrangement before so I'm curious, is the smell obnoxious in those tight quarters? It just seems futile to vent your exhaust up if your neighbor doesn't do it also.
That's a great question. Here at the VIP East lot, only about a quarter of the people are using any kind of exhaust redirect. About half have small Honda or Yamaha generators. The winds are light and we are at the top of a hill so we get a good breeze blowing through at constant rate.
I would say that the collective effort of the folks using the Genturis are mostly wasted as the fumes are simply not a problem here. This is the first time I've ever boondocked this closely to other boondocker and I'm really surprised how little the fumes matter.
To be perfectly honest with you, the biggest benefit of my arrangement is that I'm not getting any fumes in my coach. Typically, I have to close my drivers side window when I use the generator but not with my setup. I smell no fumes whatsoever. As far as a community benefit is concerned, I don't see one in this situation.
