If voltage went from 6 to ,8. To. 9
It might be dead batteries that are trying to charge up
Now that the relay has them connected ?
If you still have only 12.7v up front, while plugged in to shore, look for more batteries , if you find them replace them with new ones,
Your chassis/engine batteries supply the steps and start the generator, this is normal for many RVs
It is also automatic retract the steps with ignition on,
Many MH's have house batteries under the house door entry step well
Especially Class C, RVs
