How do you live with 3 cats and 2 dogs now? Don't you really actively use just a small amount of space? Isn't all the space around you just excess elbow room that you don't actually use? Can you not do everything you do now in less space? I'll bet you can!
Your cats have to be indoor cats or used to leashes and harnesses. You have to be willing to scoop the litter box several times a day. The dogs have to be walked on leashes, though some RV parks have fenced off-leash runs, and many towns have dog parks. You have to deal with the hair daily or it can get out of hand.
I started my travels in my 36' MH with a border collie, an Australian cattle dog, a shih tzu, and a chihuahua. There was hair everywhere and walks were in 2-dog shifts, but it was never dull and I would not have traded the fun I had with them for less sweeping & vacuuming. I can honestly say also that the last few years of their lives were always interesting and exciting to them, and life was fun up to the very last day.
Only you and your wife know if you could handle it, but 5 pets wouldn't hold me back...
