Some friends of mine retired from working for the state. Now they full time and to save money, the get jobs sometimes working as guides, front desk reservations, etc. to get a free or low cost RV site. After a couple of months, they progress to their next planned site. Sometimes they take a month off and work at the next area they go to. This way it is never dull, they get to kayak, bicycle, site see, bird watch and just rest with their dog.
We just spent 2 months on the road, the longest we had ever traveled in our RV. The DH has been retired from the Army since 1987, but after college he worked for a few years. It is possible to be in a 35', enclosed, especially if the weather is bad since we have 2 living areas - bedroom and living room - with TV's.
Since DW came to you with the offer, she must be able to see in a crystal ball about something coming up at work and has decided she has had enough of their games. Go for it if you can. If you are both not stressed - due to her job - you will live longer.
