- rthoma1ExplorerWe have a Tiffin Allegro Bay Fred and have never owned a Fleetwood Discovery but I can attest to the customer service at Tiffin. We bought our coach used and 5 years old so it had no factory warranty. I had a step that would not retract and contacted my local dealer they informed me it was summer and it would be 3 weeks before the could look at my coach. A friend that owned a Phaeton told me to call the factory and see what they could do. Red Bay is 4 hours from our home so we decided to take it there. After we got there they checked out our coach and found the roof rails were cracked and they would replace them at no cost. After taking the the rails off i saw the cracks they replaced them for it was two hair line cracks that looked like from the outside was just in the paint. I asked the mechanic if that is why they replaced the rails and he said yes it could cause problems in the future it not repaired. Bottom line I have owned campers for 20 years and boat longer and have never had a company fix something I did not ask for let alone for free. All motorhomes have problems and Fleetwood may do the same thing but I am very happy with Bob Tiffin and his commitment to customer service. Oh I almost forgot they also fixed the steps and at half the labor cost my local dealer charged to change out two batteries. Remember an RV is like owning a home that experiences an earthquake every day it is on the road and it is going to break.

Tiffin. Alabama is closer to you than (Oregon?) Tiffin is the original family-owned company. Fleetwood is a new creation through acquisition. Both good products but when I say Bob Tiffin; need I say more? Anyone who has dealt with this fine gentleman will likely agree.
We looked at Tiffin a few years ago. They seemed ok (can't say much more than that since we have never owned one so was only looking "on the surface") and I hear they stand behind their product. However, just talked to someone day before yesterday that stated the factory had 150 coaches waiting for service,[COLOR=] they do NOT make appointments and you [COLOR=]park on dirt, with the techs in and out and tracking all that dirt inside. I know I could take the coach elsewhere, and would have to because that would never work for me. A woman I talked to said their Zypher is gross when they are done, due to all the dirt inside, every time they are there. Just what I hear. You do see a zillion of their coaches on the road.
#1- They DO make appointments if your coach is 2 years old or newer.
#2- The techs DO NOT track in and out while you are parked at your site. The inside of the building has concrete flooring and if requested the techs will wear shoe covers.
These statements are so not true. And yes, I meant some of these words to be in caps because I can't believe that someone would actually say this.
I really could care less but I'm curious what happens when your coach is over this two years or newer policy?
Well, like I said, I don't own a Tiffin so not speaking from experience. Also, this is their third Tiffin and it is not two years old. Her husband also informed me that water "floods" near the front in a hard, driving rain. This is on their current Zephyr. I am a Newmar owner and plan to stick with Newmar, so does not matter to me one way or the other. I do see tons of Tiffin on the road and when someone today said they were considering one I told them it was a good choice. I just have horrible allergies and could never handle the dirt, if that were to be the case.
I've had 3 Tiffins and 3 Newmars, and I would give a slight edge to Tiffin in quality and customer service. Even though my 2010 Phaeton is out of warranty, I have called the factory many times and they walked me through fixing little things myself. I can't imagine ruling out a brand as good as Tiffin because one person had a leak in theirs. A friend of mine had to have all the storage compartment doors repainted on his one year old Grand Star. After having 7 coaches, I can say one thing for sure, a Tiffin is much easier to resell than a Newmar. We liked all of our Newmars, but they took much longer to resell at the end than a Tiffin. - Devonm2012Explorer

Before jumping too much into the Tiffin pool, check out the Tiffin RV Forum and note the many design problems that seem to be so prevelent with Tiffins. Yes, Bob will take care of you, but a poor design is still something that needs to be addressed. Some of the issues noted by Tiffin owners are cracked roof radiuses, slide room issues, cracked front caps, rotting wet bay floors, and other issues.
Fleetwood still is haunted by a past bankruptcy so both units have issues that you need to do your homework on before signing the check. Either way, good luck with your search.
Also, Bob will not live forever and didn't he try and turn the company over to his sons but took it back? I may be wrong but that is what I recall reading. - wnytaxmanExplorerBefore jumping too much into the Tiffin pool, check out the Tiffin RV Forum and note the many design problems that seem to be so prevelent with Tiffins. was leaving to trade in their Jayco for a Tiffin Allegro Bus.
I asked why they chose Tiffin? They mentioned the fact that Bob Tiffin stands behind his RV's, and their neighbor (the guy who is the subject of the link above), told them how Bob took care of the soft floor years out of warranty. That sold them.
Now that is about $500,000 worth of RV sales that were generated by one replaced floor.
Bob is a smart guy. - 2bzy2cExplorer IIHow Tiffin treats their clients even after being out of warranty for 6 years!
So, what is the question? - bmccarterExplorerhere is my take,we have owned two fleetwood class A motorhomes, and you get alot of features for your money.Unfortunately one of the things you don't get is quality!I mean they are terrible. We had premature rusting of metal parts to cabinets coming loose from the ceiling, exterior storage doors that wouldn't open.I could go on and on. We looked very carfully at several different brands this time.We narrowed it down to two choices a Newmar and a Tiffin. We finally settled on the Newmar, for us it came down to which one has the best paint and decor for our tastes. Both of these brands have superior qualiity and I would recommend either.

You need to drink Bobs Kool-Aid then you will see things more clearly. - Don_DonExplorerMmmmm, lots of coaches with problems if they are lined up at tiffin. Not to sure about that.
- goudaExplorerTwo years or newer you can make a appointment as noted above. More and you wait your turn and all are treated equally. Not the greatest campground (asphalt and gravel, actually a old runway), but what other company even offer you the ability to camp (50A, full hook up)while you wait for service? Campground is first come first served, plus no one makes you leave until you want to. I have been in campgrounds that are far worse and poorly managed. Sitting there right now. We will get service our turn Monday. 2 Working days wait. Not bad IMHO.
Someone has no idea what they are talking about.
