- MedicoExplorer III believe the Tiffin are very well made. The Phaeton is a very nice mid range coach. I cannot speak on the Fleetwood.
One thing I would consider, and this has been touched upon in previous posts, during the bad times of the late 90's many manufacturers stopped production or went into bankruptcy. Tiffin was one of the few that did not, and in fact prospered. That is one reason why there are so many Tiffin's on the road.
As a new vehicle, and this is common to ALL manufacturers, there are and will be bugs to work out. This is just a fact, whether you are talking Tiffin, Fleetwood or Newmar.
At Hershey last year I had the privilege of speaking personally with Bob Tiffin. Bob was attending and we were looking at Phaetons and Allegro Buses. We climbed inside the bus and closed/locked the door so we would not be disturbed. We spent over an hour talking with Bob about his products and his philosophy about producing his coaches. How many other manufacturers can you talk directly with the owner? - mike_brezExplorerSo I guess it's safe to say that if your Tiffin coach is over two years old you can't make a appointment you go and park on dirt and wait your turn.

We looked at Tiffin a few years ago. They seemed ok (can't say much more than that since we have never owned one so was only looking "on the surface") and I hear they stand behind their product. However, just talked to someone day before yesterday that stated the factory had 150 coaches waiting for service,[COLOR=] they do NOT make appointments and you [COLOR=]park on dirt, with the techs in and out and tracking all that dirt inside. I know I could take the coach elsewhere, and would have to because that would never work for me. A woman I talked to said their Zypher is gross when they are done, due to all the dirt inside, every time they are there. Just what I hear. You do see a zillion of their coaches on the road.
#1- They DO make appointments if your coach is 2 years old or newer.
#2- The techs DO NOT track in and out while you are parked at your site. The inside of the building has concrete flooring and if requested the techs will wear shoe covers.
These statements are so not true. And yes, I meant some of these words to be in caps because I can't believe that someone would actually say this.
I really could care less but I'm curious what happens when your coach is over this two years or newer policy?
Well, like I said, I don't own a Tiffin so not speaking from experience. Also, this is their third Tiffin and it is not two years old. Her husband also informed me that water "floods" near the front in a hard, driving rain. This is on their current Zephyr. I am a Newmar owner and plan to stick with Newmar, so does not matter to me one way or the other. I do see tons of Tiffin on the road and when someone today said they were considering one I told them it was a good choice. I just have horrible allergies and could never handle the dirt, if that were to be the case. - mike_brezExplorer

Like the Tiffin Phaeton and Fleetwood Discovery. Both bunkhouse plans. What are the seasoned veterns saying about these? I personally think they are good mid level units. will keep for about 6 yrs. Thanks for all the replies!
I am in the same boat, which two floorplans? - okgcExplorer

Not Oregon.
As a former Fleetwood Bounder owner, Last I knew Fleetwood factory Service was still located in Decatur, Indiana which is closer to OP than RED Bay.

Tiffin has a wonderful reputation for taking care of problem and Bob Tiffin is the model salesperson who stands behind his product and it is rare for someone who has dealt directly with him to not sing his praises. On the other hand it seems from reading on this forum that they have quite a few problems and that you must endure a trip to Red Bay and what for many is a lengthy stay. Winnebago also has a good reputation for quality and standing behind it but has no stars who do the customer service. I think so much is confidence in dealers close to you and I like Winnebago because of the nationwide network of dealers. Basically it really comes down to getting the motorhome you want with the right floor plan and the remainder is secondary. You can tell the quality by walking around, slamming the doors, looking in closets, checking the bays etc. Good luck.
