NASCAR race question

Back to Daytona in the summer, a little longer than 6 hrs.

what about bristol?

Talledega is insane. I love it, but they don't like Northerners like me so it's been a little hairy at times. If you really want to know what it's like to fear for the safety of your motor home, that's the place to be. Charlotte's a tough ticket for infield camping and probably not worth the effort to try. I had to use a connection with one of the race teams to get a spot. I can't help you with Atlanta as I haven't infield camped there before. X2 on Daytona if the drive is within your desired distance. It's always one of my favorites and I can't wait to get back there to see the recent upgrades to the facility.

Yep, and I would start with Atlanta. but do be aware. Every infield is pretty rough. A whole lot of the folks on the infield are only there for the party. Many of them NEVER see even one lap of a race.

Thanks, that ended up being the problem with Darlington. I was hoping that someone had a better experience...I'll just stick with the TV. Thanks!

Well you know. you CAN camp out side the track, and get tickets in the stands. And from the stands, you can really see the race. You can't see much of the race from the infield. There are many campgrounds just outside the track at Charlotte. My self personally. I wouldn't want to try to watch a race from the infield any way. You would have to build a platform on top of your RV to see anything. Not a good plan.

lots of rentals with folks on the roof. another reason I don't want a used RV.

We've been to 11 races but never in the rv. I have however walked through lots of both infield and next to track rv parks. If you like music (loud), alcohol (lots) parties (always) fights (often) be my guest. We are full time and hope to hit some tracks in the ne this season. I would prefer to stay in a park close by that has a shuttle service to track.
If your 20 I could see it, but if your mature...Ie old, I'd skip the drama.

Between Charlotte, Bristol and Richmond, we have camped at a racetrack for the past 16 years...never in the infield...but I don't remember any fights or too many drunks.

At Charlotte and now Richmond, we were/are on racetrack property, inside the gates, and there is security and patrols throughout the night. Bristol was across from the racetrack on private property, but it rained so much it kept most people inside their campers.

We now have a good size grassy site just inside gate 2 at Richmond, great neighbors, and within 200yds of the racetrack. Only noise we get is occasional big rig using a jake brake out on Laburnam Ave. Campground security patrols once an hour in a golf cart, and the city police come thru 3-4 times a day.
