OTA signal loss during NASCAR race
Twice now when we are camping my son and I have had the FOX over the air signal completely go out (and not return) about halfway through the race. Anyone else have this problem or may know why it is happening?

- Well if it was a Fox problem not to worry. That was the last race of the season for Fox I believe.
- could it be because a main camera and a few lines came down during the race?
- The camera was the one that travels across infield and didn't come down......the operational rope that moves camera did break/come loose and fall on track.
Transmission of the race was not affected.

Don't understand the loss of reception.......how long did it last? - I watched the race on a FOX channel with no problems. Transmitter was about 90 miles from me.
Your problem was loss of signal. Everything depends on how far you are from the transmitter, weather, RF interference, etc.
Adding a second in-line RF amplifier can help keep a weak signal work on your television. It is usually easier to get a signal at night hours. The sun angle will do in weak signals during daylight hours depending where your signal is coming from. - What type of OTA antenna do you have?
Do you have a signal strength meter to make sure you have maximized your antenna pointing to get the strongest reception? - Welcome to OTA DIGITAL TV! digital is terrible for OTA but great for wired hookup. I can barely get WGN in at home with an OTA antenna.
Thank you government for giving us something better! - I'll play devil's advocate and say it's NOT an OTA problem. I have Time Warner Cable at home and have experienced serious digital degradation during the last 3 races. At points the image would freeze completely for minutes at a time. I was able to go out to the trailer and watch the race OTA with only minor digital glitches.
- When we got home and watched the part we missed (DVR Dish Network) even that signal was lost for around a half an hour so I guess it was a local problem. No I didn't know they had a signal meter I will have to research that one thanks!
- I watched the replay of the Indy 500 in the Coke Campground after watching the race in person.
Didn't miss any of it.
