National Tradewinds LE fuse panels

I am looking for a fuse that might control why my steps go in when I close the main door? I have tried the switch near the steps that is labeled steps, but either way doesn't make a difference. Anybody got any ideas? Also my tail lights are not running after I wired up a tow car harness improperly. Where might the tail light fuse be?
  • I found a diagram for a 99 and it matches my fuse panel in the passenger side rear compartment. The 3 fuses listed checked out ok. It could be the switch by the main door is just stuck at retract steps. How do I check volt meter?
  • That doesn't sound like a fuse problem, but I'm no electrician. I have the same switch on my National Tropical. In one position the steps stay open whether the door is open or closed and in the other position the steps retract whenever you close the door. My guess is maybe the switch is faulty.
  • I heard that since I have the external fuse panel that there may not be a internal one on the driver panel.
  • I have a National Tradewinds and I have a fuse box to the left of the drivers seat and one in the storage where the inverter is. I don't know about your steps but will look in the morning and see if I find anything in my books concerning that fuse. If so, I will PM you.
  • Thanks it is a Spartan chassis. I found a fuse panel on the driver side in the front outside panel and then another one in the rear passenger compartment. I looked under the driver dashboard and didn't see any fuses as I have read in other forums. I haven't looked directly to the right of driver side compartment behind the plastic.
  • Fuses, two should be in the battery control center. Location varies by chassis. What chassis is your rig on? Quite often the ground under the step causes most problems.
Tailight fuse location varies by chassis. What chassis?
