Need advice

New to motorhomes, looking at 2009 Holiday Rambler Neptune Model 35SBD.
Appears to have all the bells and whistles, in good condition, with only 12K miles, 340 cummins, 6 sp allison tranny. Asking price $105,000. Good or bad deal? If purchased what kind of fuel mileage can I expect driving sensibly? Most travel will be open road, cross country and up and down the coasts. In past always truck and camper travel. Medical problems have created need for motorhome. Any help appreciated!!

Personally, unless I could pay cash for any RV, I wouldn't buy it. Also, I would be buying a newer rig than 5-years old. Too many problems with aging rigs - especially when you're out $110,000 on day 1!

You can expect 8 mpg average with that rig.
  • Take a look at the date on your tires and see how old they are. They can easily be damaged via sunlight. Look it up on the internet for how to read the dates and they will describe the cracks that can occur.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if you avg 8.5 to 9.55 over a long trip driving at 65.
