Need Help On Trip to Hurricane, Utah

We will be leaving Houston, Texas headed to Hurricane, Utah. My question is: Has anyone made this trip? If so, can you give us the best highway sequence to take considering we will be driving a 42ft motorhome towing a Jeep. The total distance is around 1380 miles. What I am looking for is anything to stay away from along the way. I would appreciate any helpful comments and suggestions. Thanks.
  • If you go to page, plan to stop at Waweep Campground at Lake Powell. The scenery is awesome and you can tour the Glen Canyon dam.
  • Get to Flagstaff, AZ - no problems. From Flagstaff take 89 north to Page, AZ and on to Kanab, Utah. Then head south on 89 a few miles to Fredonia, AZ. From Fredonia take AZ389 west which becomes UT59 and it takes you right into Hurricane. This is the easiest, shortest way with no major grades. It's also very scenic. Have a good trip!

I would hit the South Rim and then the N Rim staying at the USFS CG at Jacob Lake and driving the Jeep the 40 miles to the rim. As ^^^ 89 & 89A are doable in a Dynasty.
  • If you are going for a slow scenic route just follow google maps and in the options section check avoid highways.

If you want a freeway route use I-10 to I-17 to I-40, I-40 to Kingman, US 93 to I-15 and then up to Hurricane.

IF you wind up on 89 or 89A in Northern AZ, you will encounter some longesh grades and slow curves but nothing to bad. 89 being the easier route IMO.
