Need help with power converter

Looking for some help in resolving my power issue. I Have a ME 2012 Inverter / Charger. It is not charging and is keeping the 50 AMP electric from powering up the Coach, have reset several times, have unplugged from the power several times still no power to the coach....The inverter charger powers up my remote display shows over temp reading?

The RV is a 2007 Holiday Rambler Neptune
Thanks for any advice to fix this.

  • Thought I had it fixed, no such luck. Had the generator running only have A/C no power in coach. I am open for sugestions.
  • You need to research the unit serial number for a recall on the internet or phone them. Apparently the FEY board went bad. Expensive.
MIne was doing same as you describe and they were very good about replacing it at no charge. They UPS shipped and I returned the
old one in a prepaid carton that came with the new one. Excellent service.
Let us know how you make out.
  • Thanks everyone. I disconnected it from power and waited about an hour, plugged it in again to power, turned the battery switches back on reset the converter to turn it on and now it's working again......
  • If you decide to replace the Magnum you might want to know about their design/cost tradeoffs - this applies to most/all of their units.

    1. It will NOT charge the rated amps unless it has 120V on the units AC input terminals. 120V at the pedestal and it will not charge 100A for example. My MS2012 rated 100A typically charges a maximum of 80A. This is likely only a concern if minimizing gen run time is a factor.

    2. Their typical non battery monitor incorrectly displays the charge rate. The design determines the charge rate based on the AC input. Typically mine displays 100A when it's only charging 80A. The display and actual charge rate converge as the charge rate drops.

I discovered the above after installing a battery monitor and double checking with a ammeter. Magnum has confirmed the above.

    Otherwise they have excellent inverter/chargers.
  • Do you have AC power on the AC input terminals? Sounds like you have DC on the DC input terminals.

What do you mean by "and is keeping the 50 AMP electric from powering up the Coach"? Do you mean that you have no AC power on the 2 output circuits but AC power to the rest of the coach?

Have you checked everything in the manual related to over temperature?

Your description sounds like an internal fault. Mine recently failed with both boards bad. $900 to repair with 90 day warranty and $1100 for a new one with a 2 year warranty - you know my choice. :S
  • On my Freedom 458 there is a trouble shooting guide that can walk you through some of the common problems. I would think yours would do the same. Without the manual it might be difficult. Check ALL your fuses, batteries, transfer switch, electrical connections and so forth.

    Good luck;)
