Need more water!

I have a 2009 Navion. The water tank holds 35 gallons, which seems to always be about 5-7 gallons short during 3-4 day weekend trips. How can I increase my water storage? Is there a way to add more water to the current tank, without undocking and heading to the closest water source?

Ideas anyone?

The best place to find RV and Truck camping water tanks is off a horse trailer website!

They make great corner fit water tanks that fit real nice in a toy hauler and inside an RV. And real nice flat ones for the back of a truck.

This is the one I use in my horse trailer and then take it out and put it in my MH when RV'ing when I will need additional water once I arrive at my destination. I fill it up when I get there before parking the coach. Will hold 25 gallons. The best feature is where the water comes out so you don't have to use a hose.

Interesting. The tanks seem well built. I'd like to be able to install a tank connected to my main tank, so I won't have to fill jugs and lug them around.
I read of someone installing an external fill connector to the main tank so they could pour directly into the main tank from a jug, without having to move the RV, but I can't seem to locate the post.
  • There are a number of ways to store extra water. However perhaps you can figure out ways to not use as much. A little less for each thing helps. Also always remember there is 6 gallons or so in the water heater unless you have an instant on. We have often put it on bypass and used a drain hose setup I made to get that water and add to the water tank. Just be sure not to turn the hot water tank on. Where there is a will, there is a way.
  • We just use plastic gallon jogs for extra water for cooking and coffee. We store them under the dinette seats.

  • We've always carried extra water in a container for coffee, drinking water and other uses that don't require the water in the tank. Washing dishes once or twice a day can also save water.
It takes time, but you can learn to use less than 6 gallons a day if frugal.
