- Sandia_ManExplorer IIPicked up a pair of Interstate GC2 batteries from Samsclub a few years back and they are doing just fine thanks to our Iota converter. Went to our local Interstate battery distributor the next day to pick up a couple of six volt battery boxes where the same batteries were nearly $40 more.
- ROYBUCKExplorerNomadac, I got mine here where I live at a Interstate distributor. Roy
- GjacExplorer IIII bought the Sam's Club batteries 8 years ago for $74 apiece. I dry camp 95% of the time but never run them below 50% SOC. I also equalize and desulfate them twice a year. My first set were Trogan 105's they were quite a bit more than the Sam's Club and only lasted 4 years. Based on my experience any battery properly maintained will last longer than the more expensive batteries that are not.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIWell.. you choose the best battery if you want the best value for your money.. The reason Six Volt pairs are so popular is really the cost.. Best value for your money.. Oh there are other reasons to recommend them but that is the only one the RV manufacturers look at and that is the primary reason I like them too.
Sam's Club USUALLY has the best price... Even if you have to buy a membership to get it they are still lower cost there.
But as My Mamma Told Me.... Do the Shop Around
(Lines from a song).
because sometimes somebody has one heck of a sale on.
Oh, and are say Trojan T-105s better than Sam's generic GC-2s ?
Well, yes.. but are they enough better to justify the cost... I can not point to proof but my belief is.. NO. - barnaclebillExplorerI just bought 4 T-105's at Gulf Carts in Port Charlotte for $86.36 each with exchange. They had 12/2013 dates. I did have U-2200's that were 10+ years old.
- Dale_TravelingExplorer IITwo 6VDC from Sam's Club in my coach. Been in use a year with no problems.
The pic is from last year but I haven't notice a big jump in their prices. They gave me $15 for each dead battery I traded in so the discounted price was $64.88. - SkylarkExplorer
- jerseyjimExplorerI've used (over the past 12 years) a few different brands. From "the best" to the no-name....and I found out that no matter what brand I buy....3 or 4 years is it.
Currently using "Sams' Club" generic brand...they work fine (1 12V and 2 6V)...most of the batteries today are from Johnson Controls with different names slapped on the plastic case. Google Johnson Controls....that shows you all the brands they make.
My opinion, FWIW, get the Wally World or Sams Club products. Put the money you might save in the gas tank. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
Do you boondock much? If not, a single 12 volt jar will meet your needs.Biggyniner wrote:
Hey all,
Essentially I need 4 new 6v house batteries around 230 amp hours each. I was looking at the RV-XHD interstate had to offer. Anyone know of a good place to buy batteries that won't require me to take out a loan? - NomadacExplorer

I just purchased 4 of the GC2 HD for $89.95 a piece they replaced the U2200 Interstate, the U2200 has been discontinued. Roy
Find an Interstate Factory Store and ask for blems in the GC2 HD as they sell for $54.95 plus core charge. I just talked to a sales person last week and he is going to call me when he gets four in. They often get them this time of year, before the travel season begins. I believe they only have a 60 day warranty but for that price you can't beat them. I bought 4 U2200 for $45.95 ea. plus core back in 2011, when they retailed for $119.95. My local store get them in often.
I wonder where ROYBUCK bought his?
