Rather than walk away from no maintenance log, I think a better idea is to have the analysis done on a rig you're thinking of buying, whether they have a maintenance log or not.
As stated before, the analysis tells you a lot about what's going on inside that motor...a maintenance log will tell you when things were done, maybe, but it doesn't tell you how they were done or if they were done right.
Get the analysis, and remove all that unknown info from the equation.
Fairly common practice in boats.
