New coach

I am looking to upgrade to a Newmar Dutchstar and wondering if you can negotiate a better price for one on a lot versus having one made to your specific specs? I can do without some of the items they seem to put in most models on the lot. I dont want windows in the bunks or dvd players.
  • I usually get a better price if I found one on the lot with more than I want. When I have ordered new, not much discount.
  • I believe Mountain is correct. "They" got you when you order.
  • When we ordered our current one we were able to get a better discount on an ordered unit VS the one on the lot.

The ordered unit will have no floor plan costs charged to it, the in stock unit will.

    "floor plan cost"? What's that?

Cost of physically having unit on the lot in the inventory. I ordered my coach and I could have received a slightly better discount if I purchased one on the lot but the two units I had to chose from had some issues. Yes cosmetic and lots of dealer promises but there were extras I did not want and some extras I wanted that were not there. No thanks. I ordered just what I wanted and no one else had used it for a test drive and no walk throughs. Good luck and enjoy!
  • Floor plan is basically the dealer's loan payment on inventory. Each month a model sits on the dealer's lot the dealer must pay whoever furnishes the floor plan money. This is why a dealer is eager to give the best deals on what is in inventory.

We found that we got a much better price by ordering one. As stated it costs them a good bit to finance keeping one on the lot and we found that they try to recover that money in the sale of the unit. If you order one they know that it is guaranteed sold. Also a coach costs so much you might as well order what you want such as color, interior color, options etc. But remember that you do not pay the list price shown on the options. One can typically expect a 25-26% discount. Good luck with your search.
  • ^^^ When ordering I'd look for at least 30% off or I'd keep shopping.

In our last ordered unit we did 30% off (and Newmar has a real MSRP sticker, some do not) plus we received $5k over NADA low retail on our trade.
  • Yes x3 I agree that anything custom will be a huge premium. On the lot dealers have capital invested, often are paying interest, and all know the year is ticking and sun glowing (aging). You'll get a much better deal with more features.
