Ok so I picked picked up a 2000 Georgetown 306 for cheap from a friend. The RV has 34,000 miles on it, brand new tires all around. It has been very well taken care of he just doesn't use it. Hit truck broke down and he wanted out of the payment so he could get a new truck. Ok so here is my question for you, how many miles should I expect out of the motor? It has the 454 motor and not for sure about the tranny. What things should I check with it? I am very happy with my purchase and feel like my family and I have many years of great RV-ing to come.

If he kept up with the regular oil changes the 454 can last a long time. I got good years from the two 454 motors I had....

He was a mechanic in his past life, he said he changed the oil every 3,000 or yearly which ever was needed first. I trust him, he has worked with my dad for over 17 years.

He did say last summer that the valve to turn the heater and AC was not working. So to turn the Ac on from fresh air while driving. Any ideas what that would be? If it's like a car, I know their is a little plastic piece that breaks. Usually they are in the heater core though on cars.

That rig has a LOT of miles left in it. Enjoy!

My brother has had problems with the emergency brake which is on the drive shaft..

Let someone double check it...they can either not release or not engage...and leave you stranded.

ford has the same thing on class a's also ...

If the engine is properly maintained I would say 250,000 miles are more!

Here is a pic of the dash, this looks a little different than yours. Do you know if they controls would still have the valve?

Thank you for your reply's, I am really looking forward to hitting the open road sometime and stretching her legs. The RV was services at the local RV dealer this year. I will have to double check but I think they changed all the fluids, before storage. I know he said the Onan generator was completely gone through because it has 104 hours on it. I guess they are suppose to be serviced at 100 hours?? If he went to this length I am sure it was all done. He drove it from kansas city to Houston, tx just 3 months ago with no issues. I am really excited. Always thought this type of RV was way out of my league.

Forgot to answer question. Good old big block, taken care of, 150,000-250,000 miles.

Wow! Nice unit. Get fluids changed. Oil, trans, rear end, coolant. Check or replace hoses and belts. ENJOY!
