New RV will be ours on the 14th! Need some help on planning

I like the idea of staying a night in San Diego, just to make sure everything is okay enough for the trek home. When we picked up our new motorhome we spent the weekend at a campground about 30 minutes from the dealer in case we needed anything. Fortunately we didn't, but I think it's good practice to have options in case something goes wrong. Going up 395 would greatly reduce them.

We're currently sitting at Campland on the Bay, and it's almost empty, compared to the weekend. Amazing. So, if you're going to travel during the week you could stay here for a night without any hassles.

Chula Vista Marina RV Resort is a great spot to stay while in San Diego. Beautiful, very clean campground, with large paved sites. Centrally located with plenty of shopping fairly close if you need some last minute supplies or groceries,kitchen-ware, coffee-maker, RV supplies, pillows, bedding, etc. for your trip back. Also, it is located very near the point where highway I-5 and I-15 merge so you will have good highway access whichever route you take back home to Reno. Have a safe trip. Good Luck!

For what it's worth I've driven my coach in most of the large cities in the U.S. and I like driving on Los Angeles freeways the best.

The people there get on the freeway at 65 to 70, not 45 to 50. They pretty much stay in their lanes and all 4 to 8 lanes run about 65 to 70.

I've run side by side with CHP doing 65 with my coach pulling a toad. They want traffic moving...not dwalding.

You have to pay attention and crank right along when driving there.

Totally understood! I didn't mention, I spend 1/2 of my life on the peninsula and Sacramento for work and am comfortable with the flow and rate of traffic. I also am somewhat used to LA traffic, so it is a calculated risk.

Besides, we will be running Reno to Vegas in a month.

I tried to tell them, Traffic isn't going to be much better on Sunday.

We came down I-5 through Sacramento/Stockton.....will NEVER to that again. Also, in my opinion the entire LA Basin, San Fernando Valley, Orange County is Los Angeles and Inland Empire isn't much better. Some of the worse traffic I've ever seen has been on the 405, 93, 57, 5, and 10. I will go 100 miles out of my way to keep from traveling on ANY of the LA freeways. Those LA drivers are absolutely nuts!
