New RV

I recently purchased a Winnebago View/Profile 24G. The brochure says I am supposed to have a vent with a rain sensor, I don't. Does anyone have this model with a rain sensor that came with the unit?
  • I did install a cover over the bathroom fan, lst day I had it. The front does have a skylight in the very front, but also has an opening wide vent/skylight that lets in the sun and the rain. It is too wide for a standard vent cover. Just wondering how you folks handled it with you view's. Seems most of you have just ignored it. Nothing concrete as yet. One person did however say I shouldn't do anything to increase the heat, so down comes the alum.
  • I wouldn't worry too much if the vent had a rain sensor or not, other than you want your money's worth on what you bought.

You should have the external covers installed as soon as possible over your vents, anyway, to slow up or eliminate the sun's UV ruining of your new vents. Also, if you're ever away from your RV when heavy rains start and the "automatic" vent closing feature of your vents should just happen to pick that time to not operate correctly (all mechnical things can fail) ... you could possibly have a real wet mess inside the RV.

Also, if you ever still want interior air ventilation during high winds - having the external vent covers over the vents allow you to have the vents open without the winds causing constant vent rattling or worse yet ... cracking or ripping off the vents!

Most brochures have a statement like"Specifications subject to change without notice."

Perhaps as the model year evolved, Winnebago dropped the sensor later during the production run. .

If you have a good relationship with the selling dealer, I would approach them about it.

Does the G even have a forward vent? I thought it has the skylight up front and the rain sensor is N/A if you have that.
  • We have vent covers on our vents so they can stay open 24/7 regardless of weather.. Then we manually set the fan as we want it.
  • I love the fact that I can leave the fan o9pen andgo away for a while. In case of rain it will shut automatically and open again after 10-15 minutes. The temp control on the fan means it will vary speed by inside temp. It will also work on plain manual. I also like the fact that my Weather-Pro awning will retract if it gets windy.

  • I am one of those who would be thrilled that the rain sensor one wasn't there, because I find it terribly irritating when it goes up and down all night from even the dew... and keeps waking me up. :B

    Sorry... doesn't answer your question...
