New Shocks

My W-22 Workhorse needs new shocks. What brands are the best ones to get. I see Monroe are the cheapest but are they any good? Would appreciate comments on which ones are best and who to purchase them from at best price.

Thanks

Monroe RV shocks smooth out my bumps compared to the stiff Bilstein shocks.
  • The first thing you need to check is to see what frame year you have. Most RV manufactures change frames every four years. My Winnebago is a 2004 but my chassis is a 2003. So when I order shocks have to buy from the 2003 year. I've only had two different sets of shocks on my RV. The first set that I had on my coach were Monroe's. They were the original shocks when my coach was new. I didn't care for them. Two years ago, I put on Bilsteins and they were a upgrade over the Monroe's. When they wear out I'm going to Koni's next.
  • The first year we owned our "new" MH we switched out the terrible Sachs shocks. Went to the Koni's per recommendation of our Cummins repair facility. It was a night and day difference in handling. Much smoother ride and less side to side rocking. Our rig only had 1200 miles on it when we did this.

    Extremely happy with the Koni's.
  • I'v had Monroe Magnums for 15 years. No problems. Smooth ride.
  • I switched to Monroe RV Magnums. No problems in 12,000 miles. Smoothed out the ride compared to the original Bilsteins.
  • Last year I got a full set of Koni for about $600. I would have went with RoadKing Shocks but the shocks would run $375.00 each and take about 3 weeks to build and shipping is around $100.00. Total $1600 little rich for my blood.

  • Rancho rs5000. Decent value, priced right, work fine. Last ones I replaced had 130,000 miles on them. Our truck is big and heavy.
