Personally, I have never seen a good "old" class A unless it was a very expensive grey-hound bus conversion. I am sure they are out there, but every one I've seen, I couldn't breathe in them....total messes. Old class-As are known to have a surplus of problems, many related to the lack of a mass-production front end like the van is for a class-C. Most old class-As have custom-made brackets and other things that rust away & fail quickly. Unless it's a cream puff, I cannot recommend an old class-A.
That old Mallard you mentioned in a number of replies, it does NOT sound good to me, even if had for free.
