New to setting up a class A

Will be getting a new class A next week, have noticed in the park some have wood blocks under the jacks, some have wood under the tires, and some both. Doesn't seem to matter if on concrete or dirt. I currently have a 5th wheel and use wood blocks but for leveling. I think I have some idea why class A owners use wood blocks but thought I would ask the experts. I would like to start out with good habits, bad ones are hard to break. Thanks, Walt

  • I find that when jacks are not exteded as far the MH feels more stable. My manual says over extending can damage jacks. I would read through your manual. Demand manuals on MH equipment. When someone complains about no manual sometimes they remove some from another unit on the lot. Nice to have manuals. Lots of good info in manuals in newer MHs. Not like the old days when manuals were basically worthless. For an example: How to set zero point on your jacks. Jack manual shows the steps needed.
  • I use wood blocks under the jacks if on soft surface like dirt or asphault. Also use when jacks don't have enough reach to level the motorhome. Otherwise, the wood blocks stay in the storage bin.
