New Toad - 2014 CRV

DH and I are looking to replace our toad. We definitely want to tow 4 wheels on the road and have been told that a 2014 Honda CRV can be used that way. Anyone pull one/have any experiences doing so they would care to share? Thanks.
  • We are on CRV number two, one of the best toads on the road. No problems with either one.
  • Just bought a 2015 chevy Captiva sport, 4 cyl, auto trans, front wheel drive.Replaced my 2008 saturn Vue,Sold it to my neighbor. He's loves it. I love my Captiva,It tows very easy.
  • I bought a used '14 CRV specificially for the purpose of towing 4 down. I do not yet own a coach but will soon. My impressions of this car (not from a towing perspective) is that it is a good car, well made but a bit noisy. I wear hearing aids and the road noise makes it difficult to hear the radio at times.

There are some fixes to prevent the dead battery issue. The manual suggests you pull a fuse which can be bothersome every time you want to tow. Installing a fuse switch makes it much easier. Try this: http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/26-racks-hitches-towing/51441-towing-crv-build-switch-pull-fuse.html
  • I own a 2014 CRV which we tow 4 down. We have the Nav system on ours and put on a charge wire because battery went down before we did that. Since then, no problems. Tows great, drives great. We love it. An aside: get a light colored one because the Maroon and other dark colors cannot be seen well at night. (Maroon especially)
  • I towed a 2013 CRV and it was a great suv as a toad. We traded it in after 25K miles for the 2017 GMC Terrain SLE2. We have an appointment for wed to install the base plate and all the electrical so the lights work in conjunction with the coach, also the break away switch.

The Terrain handles the road better then the CRV, but it is heavier by about 800lbs. It should be no problem towing it.
  • We tow a 2010 CRV and the battery would drain, so we put a kill switch on it and it works like a charm now, no more dead batteries,,,
